Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi’s Growth At Bradesco
Mr. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi is an executive with the Bradesco Group, headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is currently the president of Bradesco Vida e Previdencia, which is Brazil’s largest insurance company. He also took over the presidency of one of the leading banks in Brazil, Banco Bradesco Financiamentos, in March of 2009. One of his boldest career moves was acquiring the Brazilian branch of HSBC in 2015, which positioned the Bradesco Group to take the number one spot in the country’s banking industry.
Mr. Trabuco Cappi began his career at Bradesco in 1969, as a clerk at the agency in his hometown of Marilia. Marilia is a town in Sao Paulo, and is also the location of Banco Bradesco’s first branch. He has been with the Bradesco Group for almost 50 years. He’s served in many capacities, including director of marketing, president of the company’s private pension company, and executive vice president of the Bank of Bradesco. He also served on the Board of Directors from 1999 to 2005. He is partially responsible for changing the culture of Bradesco over the years, and made it possible for journalists and the media to gain access to the group.

Mr. Trabuco Cappi managed this company from 2003 to 2009, and developed it into one of the largest insurance providers in the nation. In addition, he used his time at Bradesco to develop leadership skills within all levels of the hierarchy. He promoted from within and encouraged autonomy, by regularly meeting with those promoted to discuss strategies and plans of action.
Mr. Trabuco Cappi has received many awards for his business acumen and positive outlook, including being named Entrepreneur of the Year in Finance in 2015. He’s also been awarded Insurance Personality of the Year on more than one occasion. In addition to his duties and responsibilities at the Bradesco Group, he heads Fenasaúde, Brazil’s health insurance association. He’s a council member of Fenaseg, the country’s insurance industry’s representative body. He’s held the position of president for various entities in Brazil, including Bradesco Vida e Previdência SA, the National Financial Marketing Commission of Febraban, and the National Association of Private Pensions. In addition, he has served as president for the International Association of Economic Studies of Insurance in Geneva.
Mr. Trabuco Cappi obtained his degree in philosophy and science from the University of Sao Paulo. He also pursued postgraduate education in the field of Sociopsychology. He’s soft spoken, composed, and has a great sense of humor; he’s not the stereotypical banker. He’s married with three children. Mr. Trabuco Cappi is very optimistic and hopeful for the future of the Bradesco Group and the significance of the insurance industry in relation to governance of Brazil. He is primarily responsible for the growth of the insurance markets and is confident in his abilities.
